Avast screen shows on boot up

Hi, as my subject shows, every time I boot up my Windows 10 my Avast free screen appears too. I can’t see anywhere in the settings to stop it happening. Can anyone help please?

Have you done a restart or are you just shutting down the system?

No, the screen appears (but doesn’t start scanning) when I boot up.

What screen? a screenshot may be helpful. Still waiting for an answer to the questions asked. Thanks

I boot up as normal. Then the Avast grey screen appears as well. I’m talking about the Avast screen that appears when I click on the icon. The grey opening screen that says “You’re Protected” in green type and underneath “Run Smart Scan” also in green. I’ve taken a screenshot but I can’t find a way to send it here.

When posting ‘click’ on the “Attachments and other option” below you typed post before you click “Post”. Scroll down to Attach: then “Browse” find your screenshot and click ‘open’
It should now be attached> click “Post”

Edit: You can add a Screenshot to an existing post through the ‘Modify’ post option.

This happened to me today for the first time.
Avast UI just showed up on Windows 7 (x64) boot.

Happened to me too today on Win7.

Got a confused and worried call from a family member with the same, because of the fake problems reported on the bottom of the main status screen (those upsell tactics ‘privacy issues’ in white).

Interesting. The OP stated it was happening on Win 10.
Nothing like that here on Win 10

It has happened to me several times on Win7 over the last year(s).

It happened to me as well on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit 1903 latest. I am using Avast free.

I assumed I must have accidentally clicked on the icon in system tray but from what I read on this thread, may be not.

Just happened once on boot yesterday. Subsequent boots since then didnt bring up the interface.

It also happened to me this morning with W7 64 and Internet Security.

Screenshot as requested thanks schmidthouse.

Ok I give up on screenshot…“The file is too large”. However I think you all know what I was referring to by now!

UI is sometimes opened after PC start, usually after update (once per approx 30 days). But it definitely shouldn’t show after every boot. Do you restart your PC or power off / power on?

Not happening after every boot, from time to time.

After an update, you should reboot the system. Shutting down and restarting isn’t the same.

From the OS viewpoint it is exactly the same. Did you mean logging off and on again?

Well win 8 &10 is the case in point unless you specify what happens when you shutdown (or what you think is shutdown) it is actually using the Fast Startup function where it truly doesn’t power down.

When you update the program, you should choose Restart so that any changes actually happen.
Shutdown uses the fast reboot and many changes don’t happen.
When there is a major Eindows update, you are always asked to restart your computer.
