Avast Screensaver /Why is it not continusly scanning?

I’ve been using the screensaver for quite awhile now but last evening it stopped working. The only way I can get it to work is go to personalization which shows Avast screensaver and click on preview. Why all of a sudden it stop working and how can I fix it?

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

I see no point in waiting for the scan to finish, that is the nature of the screen saver scan to only scan whilst you aren’t actually using the system. If you are going to sit waiting for it to finish you might as well just schedule it.

I didn’t wait for the scan to finish. I done a repair and the screensaver is working now.

Why is the screensaver showing File…Waiting For Next Scan and below that…Number of files scanned 0 ?

The screen saver scan cycles through all files and would start again, since it is waiting for the next scan to start 0 files scanned of that scan would be correct.

Again just let avast get on with the scan it is pointless sitting watching it tick over, like watching paint dry.

The default value is to wait three days between scans.
