For the last week, when I try to launch the Secure Browser, it either does nothing or takes anywhere from 5 - 20 seconds to launch. Once it does launch, it seems to work fine. Prior to last week, it launched almost instantly. I reset the browser’s settings and even uninstalled/re-installed with no change; also, it insists it’s up to date (87.0.7480.89). I use Windows 10 64-bit but couldn’t find anything on the Windows end that would cause the slowdown. I only have Avast and Windows Defender on my machine. Disabling Defender doesn’t help, even after a reboot (nor had it ever been an issue before; I’ve had both for years). It’s bordering on being unusable. Anyone have any ideas on what else I can try? I have been having the same exact issue. It started for me on version right before the latest update and it updated to Version 87.1.7587.142 (Official Build) (64-bit) and is still having the same issue and I also tried the uninstall using the Avast removal tool and reinstalling and still the same issue. It takes a considerable time launching the application but seems to work ok once opened.
I can confirm the lag in opening the browser.

Just got updated to Version 88.0.7977.151 (Official Build) (64-bit) an still having the same issue where initial launch is very, very slow.
I tried a complete uninstall using the Avast uninstall utility from their site and reinstalled and still have the slowness issue upon application launch. After clicking the icon to open the browser it takes between 10 - 20 seconds for the browser to open to google. I do not have this issue with any other browsers or apps. This is on a newer machine with a 12 core processor and 32gb of DDR4 3600mhz RAM and a M.2 SSD drive so I know the machine is not the issue. Browsing from site to site seems ok.
It’s been reported to and acknowledged by Avast.
I can understand the frustration as I share it!
My beta latest version takes 15-20 seconds to launch (every time) no matter clean install…

Avast Secure Browser has been experiencing long load times for several weeks, and two days ago, when it finally loads, the web page blinks, a solid black and white screen. Complete uninstall and reinstall doesn’t correct the issue.
ASB is totally unusable, Bank Mode still works, but I had to migrate to Chrome.
Maybe this is something to do with Adobe Flash no longer being supported by Windows 10!
