Avast Secure Browser is effectively Google Chrome. The screen layout is identical to my default Chrome browser including the bookmark bar
and auto entry of site passwords. I can see no difference and would like to make this browser my default.
Problem ! I can open Firefox, Opera and the other desktop icons using Sandboxie, but NOT Avast Secure Browser.
I think it is a brilliant browser but cannot make it my default if it is not compatible with Sandboxie.
Has anybody else found that Sandboxie cannot be used with this browser ?
Thanks, but that link never helped at all. My question is about compatibility with Sandboxie,
I found just about everything but.
My ASB version is - Version 71.0.1037.99 (Official Build) (32-bit)
My Windows 10 is 64 bit.
Sandboxie have officially confirmed that ASB is not a supported browser, so Sandboxie is incompatible.
IMO there is no browser that can be better or equal to the protection Sandboxie provides.
Sandboxie encloses the entire PC, it is not just a sandbox within the operating browser.
In all honesty I don’t feel you need sandboxie (but it is your system). I tried sandboxie for a while and didn’t stick with it very long at all. I find it easier to have a robust backup and recovery strategy, in the form of a digital image of your drive/s or partition/s, saved to an external HDD. I run this weekly and keep the last 6 backup images.
I like ASB very much, but as far as security goes, A Sandboxied Opera browser with its FREE VPN, plus Avast AV
operating as normal, is as safe a bug-stopping set-up as one can get. So apart from having ASB on my desktop for casual convenience,
the Opera combination is by far a no-contest.
Thanks.
I would add to negate the inference that Chinese products and ownership are suspect, that almost all
of our computers are either made or contain components made in China, Malaysia, Indonesia or Taiwan,
not of course forgetting Japan.
