Avast SecureLine not remembering my.avast.com details.

Subject: Avast SecureLine VPN for Windows (Version 5.5.522)
Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.693

On the menu → my licences screen, the user is prompted to enter their my.avast.com information.
(See attached screen print)

The user enters this information, which is accepted.
(See attached screen print)

Re-start the PC, open up SecureLine VPN, navigate to Menu → Licences and the user is prompted to enter the my.avast.com info again.

The my.avast.com info is not saved/stored properly across a PC restart or shutdown.

I don’t understand, it clearly shows your license as active.
Same as it does on mine,

I don’t know what else you are expecting?

  1. Login to your Avast account by clicking the large square button marked “Login to your Avast account” and entering the username/email and your password.

  2. It changes to show you are logged in (see my attachment on this reply).

  3. Restart your PC.

  4. Go back to the “My Licences” tab in SecureLine VPN. Activation stuff is still there but the my.avast.info entered in step 1 has gone.

The important stuff, the activation dates, remain but the my.avast.com data is not saved correctly. It should display as shown in my attachment but it doesn’t.

Avast Premier Security and CleanUp Premium work as expected.

To access your my.avast.com account and see it’s information, go to the website. That information isn’t stored in the user interface.

Did you actually bother to follow the steps in my replies?

If so, you would have seen the GUI bug I mentioned!

As you seem to have not bothered to follow the steps in my messages, I also attach the relevant screen dump from Clean Up Premium.

It also works as expected in Premier Security.

Your Antivirus User Interface shows your details.
The User Interface for SecureLine does not. as you can see from my screenshot.

So why is there a big, black, square button titled “Login to your Avast Account”?

When the big, black, square button titled “Login to your Avast Account” on the licences tabs in Premier Security and Clean Up Premium is clicked and the requested info completed it is retained over a PC restart. It is NOT retained over a PC restart in SecureLine.

Have you actually done the steps I mentioned earlier? If you had done the steps, you would have seen the GUI bug mentioned.

If you have not done the steps I mentioned to reproduce the (albeit minor error), then don’t bother replying to this post.

as stated, the UI for the main AV shows the information.
The UI for SecureLine does not show that information.

Can you not give a straight yes or no?

Have you done the steps I stated earlier?

Have you bothered to compare the licence screens of the products I mentioned?

If you can’t answer yes to these three very simple questions then don’t bother replying!

I happen to use Avast Omni and Avast SecureLine.

So you have no reason to not have followed my steps outlined earlier, unless you are away from your PC.

Presumably you don’t have Premier Security or Clean Up premium. A shame as it would help you to appreciate how the licences tab is supposed to work.

Talk about arrogance. Expect help from others. I’m out.

The arrogance of a volunteer Avast evangelist who can’t seem to be bothered to perform a simple 20 sec confirmation of a simple gui bug.

A great shame as I thought that Bob was better than this, but I was apparently mistaken.

If anyone wants to reproduce the non-urgent gui bug then feel free to follow the steps mentioned above.

I will take this up with support directly, who I have found to be very good with another recent issue.

For your information, Avast SecureLine is a freestanding program. Avast AV or any other products aren’t required to run SecureLine.
There isn’t any reason for SecureLine to show any other information in it’s user interface except SecureLine’s expiration.

Oh dear.

You still haven’t done the steps I mentioned earlier.

Is admitting that an Avast product has a minor bug too much for your evangelical zeal?

Did you have any luck resolving this…? I am having the same issue. Not sure what to do. When I try to launch secure VPN it says I need a license. When I login my account is shows my licence as active but still I am unable to launch it.
