Avast SecureLine VPN

I downloaded BBC iPlayer to laptop in UK.
Back in Canada I tried to use the Avast VPN to access it setting VPN to UK location.
No joy. Detected I was not in UK.
Emailed the BBC about it.
Reply:
“Thanks for getting in contact with BBC iPlayer support. I’m sorry to see you are having issues with iPlayer, specifically that it says you are outside the UK.
There are usually two key issues that cause this problem, either your IP address is not registered inside the UK or you’re using a VPN, proxy or something similar.
I’ve checked your IP address and it says your IP is from a VPN service called Iomart Cloud Services Limited. If you would like to check yourself, you can go to:
https://bit.ly/2GCWyby
Since you’re using a VPN, you must disable it while watching iPlayer. This is because we need to check that only people in the UK are watching iPlayer”.
BUSTED

You may be busted as far as using a VPN.
It still doesn’t detect you actual location or IP which is the part that’s protecting your privacy.

Hi seatoo,

The IP address check link shows the location as Glasgow. The Glasgow server is not designed to work for the iPlayer. Can I check whether you were able to try using the specific streaming server that we have for sites such as BBC iPlayer? This is listed as UK/Wonderland in the SecureLine server locations under the “Streaming” servers sections (and shows on the ipqualityscore.com website as being in London).

My assumption was the Glasgow server would be sufficient as Glasgow is in the UK.
Was not aware of other UK based servers that were more suitable at BBC related content.

I use wonderland and that wont work for iplayer anymore
