Avast security recommendation and Netgear WG111c2.exe

Since installing version 6.0.1000 on a Windows 7 machine ,
I get this message when I boot up :

"You are opening an application that may be potentially unsafe.
We strongly recommend opening this application in the virtual environment of the avast! sandbox to avoid any risk to your computer.
File: C\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR\WG111v2.exe
Opened by: c:\Windows\explorer.exe "

The ‘offending’ exe file is for my dongle.
I has never given me a problem before.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

I have set it to open normally, but would like to know why this happened in the first place.

Thanks in advance.

Avast will offer that for any file that runs from a USB or downloaded from the internet - unless it is a known file. By adding it to trusted Avast will not alert on it again

For your security, a small delay may prevent a big infection. Plus as more data is gathered it will become more compliant with known files

Thanks EssexBoy (which part? I am near Brighton).

I don’t mind the delay, but the message was a surprise.
This must be ‘new’ as I hadn’t seen it appear in previous versions.

It is a part of Avast 6.0 recently added… And I am from deepest cornwall… The pointy bit at the bottom ;D

I thought it might, but wanted to be sure.
Thanks again.

Cornwall is a great place to be
