avast Service (32 bit) using more than 50% of the CPU

Hi,
Since a few weeks I have that problem happening when surfing on internet. Every time I open a new page, avast Service (32 bit) starts using up to more than 50% of the CPU, making the computer run very slowly. The problem occurs with Chrome, Firefox and Edge. I’m using Avast Free for years, never had that issue before. Current version I have is 11.1.2245
Would you have any clue?

  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

  • Processor 3.20 GHz, 8,00GB RAM, Windows 10 home 64-bit
  • No other security software
  • None. Using Avast for years and this PC is pretty recent so I never installed any other AV on it

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
