Avast Service always at about 18% CPU

Since the last Update (12.3.2280 Build 12.3.3154.2) the Avast Service is always at 15-18% load.
Operating System is Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
Sometimes it slows the explorer way down so that it takes ages for it to display my drives.
All this stops immediatly if I switch off the fileprotection…

I have read the other threads about “Prey” causing the problems, but I don’t have Prey installed… never had.

Hi, can you create memory dump while avast service is eating your cpu and send it to @petr_matrix(Avast! Team member).

Hello maverick,
You have avast premier?
Avast premier there are still bug version 12.3.2279 + 2280
If you use avast premier it is the solution:

  1. Run Command prompt with administrator
(if you’re not “run as administration” you can not save the file when you already change it)
  2. From the root of your "C:" type : ProgramData\AvastSoftware\Avast
  3. Open avast5.ini then insert this command in line [GrimeFighter] : ScanFrequency=999
  4. Hit save
  5. Restart you PC

Hey,

thanks for the quick answers! =)

I forgot to mention it’s Avast Free Antivirus and I don’t have the Grimefighter installed or the section in my avast5.ini…

Concerning the memory dump:
What dump exactly do you need? A full one? This could get quite large…
And how exactly do I generate one in Win 10 without a BSOD?

thanks again!

Do you have Avast Cleanup installed ???
Go to settings > Components > under Performance disable or remove Avast Cleanup.
See if that makes a difference.
