Avast service continuously crashes

I’m running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit with avast Internet Security 17.9.3761.278 (Program), 180131-2 (Virus definitions). Every so often avast’s services will crash while idling, and when it reaches 15% of a targeted scan of my two HDDs. I have tried reinstalling the program which hasn’t fixed anything. I have ran a boot-time scan which didn’t reveal any threats although there was a bitcoin miner that malwarebytes picked up during it’s scan (I was testing the bitcoin miner). Avast doesn’t have any exclusions added to the exclusions list. I have attempted running a scan with the logging system enabled and it appears it never created the file. I ran malwarebytes in safemode to ensure no threats were on the machine. Only threat picked up was the bitcoin miner I was messing around with a while back and forgot about it. This all started happening after I uninstalled a potentially-unwanted program avast picked up. A service was still lingering even after the uninstallation. Virustotal and avast didn’t say it was a threat but the file looked very suspicious.

I believe I have figured out the problem. After messing with services I remembered I disabled windows firewall/defender shortly before the problems started. I re-enabled them and everything is working fine so far. I ran a full system scan and the service is still intact.

Or, the VPS update that was issued to fix the problem had occurred and the problem is now solved.
