Avast Service crashing seeming to cause loss of Internet access

Hi
I’m an IT support person supporting a user with Avast Free installed on a Windows 11 Dell Optiplex 7000

We seem to have an issue with Avast where it causes web browsers to return a server not found error
As soon as we pause shields on Avast the error goes away without any further steps

We’ve tried repairing Avast and Uninstalling and re-installing but both of the above haven’t helped

We’ve also tried updating the ethernet adapter driver as we believed that originally to be the issue

Event viewer does log a 7034 error that the Avast Service has stopped before the issue occurs. Sometimes this can be logged multiple times before the issue occurs.

I have a zip file containing the contents of the logs folder, but can’t upload this as a new user. But am happy to share it another way to anyone who would be kind enough to assist

This issue doesn’t replicate on any other system that we are aware of though most of the remainder of the machines in the business are laptops.

Stop and restart Web Protection, Avast DNS protection is frozen.

It isn’t listed on the Avast Premium Security components:

So it looks like it has been removed.

We are seeing the same issue here with Avast Business. Took a while to actually find the issue as we too went through driver updates and reinstalls before we finally saw the Avast crashes in the event logs and could tie it out to the networking drops by timing. We have about 4 users so far this is happening too and are in the prelim stages of testing after uninstalling AVAST to confirm our issue (although this post makes it most likely it is Avast). All machines are laptops and various Dell models. Will be opening a ticket with business support.

Thanks for the contributions

Sorry to hear it isn’t just us getting affected, especially if it’s turning up on laptops for others, as that means we might get more cases.

I can see there’s been a release of 25.10 last week, so I’ll give that a try on our previously affected machine and feedback on how we get on :+1:
