Avast Service Memory Use

Is it Normal to be at 25-26mbs of memory use, while my main Desktop has enough, my 3rd machine doesn’t really, 1.5gb of ram in Windows 7, (not sure if uses same amount on that machine or not, i’ll have to check further)

Already tried a repair, clean install

Shields only running File Shield, Mail Shield and Webshield

That (25-26mbs) isn’t actually that much given that it is a security application:

  1. Avast is scanning other active content - it isn’t actually initiating scans off its own back.
  2. Take a look at some other applications and you will find some monsters - see image example attached.
  3. RAM is there to be used - improves performance - not to hang on to. Windows, is what controls memory use, there are times when it looks like a program is using X-MB of RAM. If windows needs ram for another program then it will release/assign that to another application (and use the swapfile if necessary).
