avast! service stopped (this may be an old topic but please HELP)

i suddenly see that my avast is unsecured and when i try to update it, it says (failed to update. the avast! service is not running.) and when i try to fix the problem and click on fix now well… nothing happens, it also says i have to re-start the program but … nothing happens as well … help please :cry:

Did you do as suggested and restart your system ?

If so and there was no difference - Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

i did the repair thing … now what ?!! :-\ it’s still the same !! should i uninstall it instead of repairing it and then install it again ?!!! OMG brain damage :o
