Avast Services are automatically Turned off

I’m using free version of avast 2014. I Installed it 7 days back and all of sudden when I rebooted my machine today the services are turned off.

There’s a red cross on notification icon, program says You are Unprotected
Program version is = 2014.9.0.2011, Virus definition version = well it says “UNKNOWN” (But i’m positive that i’ve updated this morning)
I cannot update it or run a scan. It say “There’s no endpoints available in endpoint mapper”

Any suggestions?

I’m on win8.1

Try a repair.
Control panel > software > avast > add/remove > repair

Did you enter the key for the free version?
Do you (or did you) have any other security software installed?

Repairing didn’t work. It again turned off within seconds.
Yes i’ve free version. expiration date is 01/06/15.
I’ve spybot search n destroy installed. are those two not competible

They should work fine together.
Let’s try this:

  1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

Note : You need to be ONLINE during the install (sometimes online installer works whereas offline doesn’t)

Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
  3. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
  4. Install the version you downloaded.
  5. Reboot.

Disable the “tea timer” in SpyBot S&D.
The tea timer can and will create a conflict with avast.

To be honest, get rid of SpyBot and use MalwareBytes instead.

edit: Read this concerning SpyBot.

Ok I uninstalled spybot. now how to fix avast??
I uninstalled it and reinstalled but now it’s off agin :frowning:

@Para-Noid
Does this malwarebytes sw work fine with avst??

Yes they work together.

k Tahnks alot. I try those two. we’ll see

Use malwarebytes for periodic scans, not real-time.
You may want to schedule e.g. a scan once a week.

Why not realtime ??? works great alongside avast.

+1
I run Malwarebytes Pro with realtime options active. No problems at all with Avast, and I have all 3 shields active in that, but I don’t have Avast’s Browser addons/extension installed.

It’s a one time fee for MBAM Pro. Just buy it before MBAM v2.0 is released or else it will be an annual fee.

@Eddy, Para-Noid

It didn’t go well guys. Uninstalled avast completely and reinstalled. After one day it again turns itself off.
Last time when this happened I switched back to version 8.x and it works fine. Gonna go back to older version. I wonder what’s the issue :-
Thanks Anyway ;D

The current BETA (9.0.2012) fixes the issue… should be released soon when ready.

You can try BETA here (it’s stable imo) : http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=144768.0
