k i think i have all the info correct as just got off the phone with my ISP but when i highlite my email address under alerts n press test i get an error message of…Unknown error. The alert cannot be sent. :o
I don’t know what to suggest, despite requesting what data you entered in the avast SMTP
What settings did you put into the avast SMTP server address ?
We ask questions so we can get a better understanding of the problem might be (incorrect settings, incompatible port number, etc.) without information we are working in the dark.
I don’t need to know your user name and password, just that they are required and they have been entered and the checkbox ticked, but without the other information I can’t even guess as to the cause of the problem. See example of my setup.

A - No, it is who you want displayed as the sender of the email alert, e.g. your email address.

Users can’t do that. Only moderators.
But threads are kept open and just few hours/days they will be left behind with new threads. Anyway, they can always be used as a knowledge base and found by search function.

All is now well ;D avast is sending email alerts to my accesscomm email which is then forwarded to my hotmail account which then sends a text message to my cell phone 8)
Glad you have finally got it the way you want it, quite a circular route to get a text message ;D
