Avast showing Google as unsafe

Went to google.com today and I get a warning that site is a philshing site. My Avast icon (upper right hand corner of browser) also shows Google as unsafe site. Why?
Also, if you’re going to use “captcha"s” use something that’s readable by a human being. 6 tries before Could post. A “B” and a “E” look very similar when you put a double line though the middle.

Seems to be a known issue, nothing from Avast yet.

The Captcha is for spam protection and will be gone after a few posts

Doing this to me and others - Firefox and Chrome. Reported over in “Viruses and Worms” forum.

I visited Google.com using firefox 42.0 and no alert.

I don’t use the the AOS browser security add-on, but that shouldn’t change the other alert images I have seen reported.

Avast reported google.com as “this is a known phishing site” on Firefox but not on IE10. After a couple of tries, I noted that IE10 shows the URL as https://www.google.com but Firefox is opening google with a URL of https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl … and for whatever reason it continues to use that URL even when I have typed in https://www.google.com (without any forward slash blah-blah after the .com).

Odd to say the least. No such warning appeared prior to today and there were no changes made in Firefox (or Avast) between last night and this morning.

OK, now i get the phishing blockage on this link: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl

But not the other one…

Interesting appears to be browser dependent as this only happens for me in Firefox (however I’ve stopped updating FF at 40.0.3 and am going with Pale Moon now).

This does not occur in Pale Moon, Chrome or IE (all current versions).

I don’t get any warnings what so ever. I am using latest FF !

Okay so now we know it’s not only browser dependent (Firefox as far as I can tell) but it’s version dependent.

Hmmm, FF version 40.0.3 is clearly not that dated, just another reason to go with Pale Moon as I have as FF continues to move in the direction of a Chrome-clone.

There is no need to start a new thread.

It does appear in Chrome as well

Now, if I type “www.google.com”, it re-directs to “https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl”, and that generates the Avast blocker. IF, on the other hand, if I type “https://www.google.com”, Avast approves and displays the page. So, it looks to me like the google re-direct, “https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl” is where Avast thinks the Evil lives… Same thing in Chrome (Version 46.0.2490.80 m) as in Firefox (version 41.0). Not (so far) in IE (version 11.0.9600.18059).

I’m using Firefox ESR 38.4.0 and when I went to google.com I got this warning.

It has been fixed already, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178821.msg1265818#msg1265818

Just went to the google.com website and didn’t get any alerts so as Asyn said it has been fixed.
