I’ve got two external hard drives that I back up. One has become corrupted. I have lots of sensitive material on it and I want to make sure that it’s clean before I dispose of the critter.
Is the Avast Shredder going to do a complete job or do I need something else?
For disposal:
Whilst it will probably do the job, I have always been of the thought when a disk with sensitive data dies (for whatever reason) I make sure it is dead. A none to gentle tap with a very large hammer or a few holes drilled in it with an electric drill before disposal.
For reuse/recycle:
As mentioned it depends on what the corruption/problem might be, but if you are hoping to reuse this disk after wiping and low level format and repartitioning, etc. It would be worth running more than one wiping tool before the low level format.
