AVAST! shuts down automatically and reports and error. This happened after Avast found a virus and needed to reboot to clean and the blue screen of death popped up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to repair Avast by going to windows uninstall and instead of uninstalling there is a repair option.
The bsod is meant to happen when a driver cannot run, so maybe the virus did something to avasts driver.
Try going to My Computer>Manage>Service and applications>Services>Avast Anti-virus and then Start.
If nothing then go to control panel, add and remover hardware, and on avast do the repair. If that doesn’t work then try update, if still nothing reinstalling it may be the only option.
