Hi, AVAST is shutting itself off automatically after I updated last week.
A pop up says Avast is not running & the tray icon says it is off. I have to go back in & manually click Resolve All every day now. How do I correct this? Sometimes it shuts itself off suddenly while I am online, I cant have this.
Im running WIN 10 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Thank you.
Perform a repair of avast.
If that doesn’t solve it, perform a clean installation.
This may make it easier:
Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

I just had the same issue as cj121 after avast! upgraded itself to 12.1.2272. After the reboot, avast! was not started. Clicking on the Resolve button or manually trying to start avast! did not help. I went into avast! Settings/Update and noticed that the version was correct but the Release date showed 1969-12-31 7:00:00 PM.
Reboots did not help. Neither did an avast! Repair through Control Panel/Programs and Features. I was about to do a clean uninstall and reinstall when I stumbled on another forum which suggested using the Update option (again through Control Panel/Programs and Features). The Update operation finished almost immediately and I was able to start avast! without a reboot. The Release date now shows 2016-06-21 6:45:48 AM.

I did try the Repair, but AVAST still shut itself off afterwards so I did a clean uninstall/reinstall. I checked the release date & everything seems ok.
Will update if fix is maintained.
Glad to hear the problem is solved. 
I updated avast! on another laptop and experienced the same problem. Clicking on Resolve or Start Now in the avast! pop-up did not help. I did a Repair through Control Panel → Programs and Features without success. This time I tried the Resolve button after the reboot and avast! started.
Any time you use the repair function, it should be followed by a system reboot.

The repair/reinstall did not stop whatever is shutting my Avast services off. I did another update/reboot today.
My pc says WIN Defender is off & I’ve checked my task manager to see what the conflict may be but can’t find anything.
This shutting off behavior started right after the last AVAST update, absolutely no problems with AVAST until then.
I’m running a year old Toshiba Satellite with WIN 10, Zone Alarm firewall. Any help would be appreciated.
Ive got the same problem (Avast Internet Security). Resolve all does nothing, it is basically saying i have the free trial version, I can’t access my account through the GUI, an error msg appears when i try. In the settings menu if i try to update the virus definition it comes up with an error ‘Failed to update. The Avast Service Is Not Running’. The program update section does nothing (current ver. 12.1.2272(build 12.1.3076.6) Release Date 1/01/1970 8:00:00 AM).
I Removed avast and reinstalled and it worked but the computer restarted itself today and avast was broken again.
At a loss!
CJ, ZA has to go as it installs components of their av that can cause conflicts with avast.
