I thought it was interesting that I could still use Google when the wildcard * was set. Then I tried adding https:// to a few websites, and they all went through. Can this be fixed?
If the answer is “https is guaranteed safe,” I’m blocking sites to kill distractions, not viruses!
The site blocking I believe uses the web shield as its mediator to display site blocked, etc.
Since the web shield doesn’t monitor https (secure encrypted) traffic as it can’t scan the encrypted traffic, these aren’t redirected through the web shield proxy. So this would work in the same way as the web shield exclusions, you can’t enter an https location, when you click enter it would place the http in front of the url.
The use of the * has the same impact as https traffic isn’t routed through the web shield proxy.
