Avast Slows Firefox ?

Eddy, should I check the Disc Repair box? (see 1.jpg) I just ran chkdsc :/R last night, then defragged.

Remember I have a shaky XP system.

how about the other options under Advanced? (2.jpg)
Under Windows Registry- Repair?

Run only:

  • Disk Space > Cleanup
  • Registry > Repair

Don’t worry that it is XP.
XP still works fine if you treat it nicely

uninstalled FFox,

then I used the glary and it messed up something, and I needed to do a system restore.

then I reinstalled FFox, and got the conduit ‘search protect’ bug … I think it came from an ‘update your MS drivers’ link I clicked on and followed during the installation.

I used the Adware Removal tool and it seems like it’s gone. Is there anything else I should do?

Now my question is about the web shield. I turned it off and now FFox opens right up

but is that going to leave me more vulnerable? Is there anything else I can do to replace the web shield protection?

Turning off Webshield means no protection while on the internet.
Since 85% of all infections come directly from the internet, that’s not a wise thing to do.

that’s my concern too Bob. What can I do for protection besides enable the webshield?

with it turned on, FFox takes a minute + to open, with it off, about 6 seconds. You can see why I don’t want it.

Hi,

can you ever please disable the Eset online scanner and see if it works then?
Maybe it’s because.

TerraX

Terra what is the Eset online scanner? Is it part of Avast?
