Avast Software Analyzer?

After recent update, this was running in background.
Any explanation? What is this? This was not running in previous update.

Should I close it?

That’s the new name of the behavior shield.

Hi kemije8725,

can you share which shields and what Avast version are you using?

This process should be running when Behavioral shield, Ransomware shield or Password protection is enabled.

I’m surprised it wasn’t running before as the Behavioral shield is one of the shields installed when even minimal set of shields in Free Version is selected.

Hello, I’m using the premium security version.
I have never touched any other settings previously. So I was rather curious about this. Since it takes a little bit more resource in background.

Hi,

it’s strange that the Behavioral shield wasn’t running before.

Can you share the list of shields you are using?

Thanks,
PDI

I’m running all shields. No shield is ever turned off for once.
Edit: Although I’ve seen behavior shield running in my taskmanager background, now it was gone and Analyzer came instead.
So I was little confused.

I just found out this process was using 85 MB of my working storage after my PC slowed down to a crawl. What does this do? I was unable to close it down. I have no idea what “shields” I am using; I have installed Avast Premium Security, Avast Cleanup Premium, Avast Passwords, and Avast Driver Updater. I just deactivated Avast Tools and restarted my PC, and now it seems to run normally again, but the Software Analyzer is still there using 85 MB. Is there any way to moderate its demands for storage and CPU?

85MB really is a drop in the ocean, just look at your other processes, browsers use masses of RAM and they don’t do anything as important as a security application.

I suggest you read Reply #2, which gives the functions/shields involved with this process.

Compare all of Avast processes against my other programs and Avast really is a drop in the ocean. Of course this depends on what you have running and because Avast is an on-access process, if your system is busy than avast will be monitoring that activity to protect your system.

I struggle so much when the Avast Software Analyzer process loads the system too much.

In short, usually I have this process consumes 20-25 MB, I have several browsers, and when I open one browser and use it ( other rules work), by the way, I assume that this is due to the fact that this browser has three extensions I have “left”-in short, when I launch this browser, the Avast Software Analyzer process starts to eat 250 - 350 MB, and sometimes more… I repeat - there is an assumption that it starts Avast to scan these extensions, as they are surfing the sites perform.

How to reduce it. - When I close this browser, Avast Software Analyzer still eats 300 MB. I do this-Right-click on the Avast icon-Manage screens - “Disable all screens”. I turn it OFF, look in the task Manager-when this process stops eating RAM, I immediately turn on all the screens again and the process consumes 25 MB again…

Maybe someone will need to just kill this process-without restarting, without reinstalling anything. Everything. End of history))
