Avast Software Updater does not update Flash Plugin for Firefox, it just updates Flash ActiveX for Windows 8 (that is, for Internet Explorer, which is automatically updated by Windows Update). Flash Plugin for Firefox is not even shown in the update list (it was before, but it dissapeared). I had to update it manually.
Could you fix this or tell me any way to fix this?
Avast Version: 8.0.1483 in Spanish with all updates
Operating System: Windows 8 in Spanish with all updates
(I did a minor edit just to change the post icon to an exclamation mark).
In the Addons tool in Firefox, in Plugins I have Shockwave Flash 1.7.700.169 listed and Activated. I also have Avast WebRep 8.0.1483 listed there in Extensions, but Deactivated. I activated it just for testing and still does not work. I even reset the Software Updater database in Avast, and still does not work. And, of course, I had Firefox closed when I checked the Software Updater just to see that the Flash Player Plugin was not there.
Just to recap, what I am talking about is the Flash Player Plugin (for Firefox and many other browsers like Opera or Safari), that was updated before by the Software Updater tool in Avast 8, along with the other Flash Player ActiveX (Windows 8 ) plugin (for Internet Explorer). Now the Flash Player Plugin has dissapeared from the list of updated programs, and Avast does not update nor notify that it is not updated. That is the problem. It should be in the list. Flash Player ActiveX (Windows 8 ) is still in the list, but, as I told you, it is only for Internet Explorer.
Well your comment “In the Addons tool in Firefox, in Plugins I have Shockwave Flash 1.7.700.169 listed and Activated” that is the latest version of flash player, so what is the problem ?
Do you have the ‘Show up-to-date programs’ option checked ?
I have the latest Flash Plugin for Firefox installed because I updated it manually, as I told you in the very first post. Of course I have the “Show up-to-date programs” options checked, since if I had not, I could not see any programs in the list, because I have updated all of them. As I said before, the problem is just that the “Flash Player Plugin” (for Firefox and other browsers not being Internet Explorer) is NOT in the list of programs to update. The Software Updater tool does not check it.
