its doing more hjarm then good. and avast warns me. only when you click on the update button for thunderbird
avast send you to the wrong (avast get money from them ? ) site. instead avast send thge users to the correct side
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ the send you to the cnet side where the download button anyway dont work.

can avast please send users to the offical download site !
and not to soem crappy one like cnet !

same with vlc player ! avast stop pointing people to cnet. point people to the official site with downlaod s!

OsFly,

Yes the avast! Software-updater leads to Cnet and when the Online Security plugin is active all of the Cnet download are blocked as well.
On a Dutch forum I have a similar problem where the software-updater won’t work with a active avast plugin.

What I do is use the SU to check for updates, I then go to the vendors website to download.
I like to control where I download from. If one is not careful you end up downloading the
cnet installer. If not the vendors website I use either filehippo or softpedia. 8)
