Hello, I am trying to find out what is going on with Avast software. I just found out the DOD is removing all Avast software from their systems due to a vulnerability found that “indicates the potential for execution of a backdoor” into your system. Is this true? if so, what is Avast doing about it?
If you know something we don’t, post link to the info you found and share it with us
It was not a link, got the info from someone in DOD
and DOD is Department of Defense ?
If the DOD is going to do this every time some software experiences a vulnerability, it is going to be very expensive not to mention time consuming re-educating users on the new software.
Well “indicates the potential for execution of a backdoor” into your system, is just that potential. If the DOD haven’t got a robust backup and recovery strategy in place then they are fools and I don’t think they are fools. As they say ‘if you fail to plan then you plan to fail.’
Even users with a single system should exercise have a robust backup and recovery strategy and this isn’t just for virus/malware issue, but any sort of system failure.
yes
Sure it was avast and not kaspersky ?

Definitely said Avast. ALL Avast products
Sorry, but without any proof or further info this is just hot air.
Provide a statement (DOD) and I/we will forward your question.
