Really, Avast. Thank you for letting me know once. Twice. Three times. Fou… ENOUGH.
Avast (Alwill) does not spam at all.
they are talking about the popups that say to renew their license, which pops up once every 4 hours
Then it is easily solved by either renewing the license or installing the free version but going by the title of the thread I’d say the OP is talking about the advertising of the paid versions.
When you pay for a year’s subscription, you should not get 11 months of decent service followed by non stop advertising in the final month. It’s spam, it’s bad behavior, it’s disrespecting their customer.
It is not spam. It is a reminder. You don’t want to stop security software working without any notification.

A reminder is one thing, a pop up every four hours is quite another. It’s spam.
Edit: I’d agree with your answer more if they gave an option for
a. Thanks don’t remind me again or
b. Thanks remind me when I’ve got 2 days left
But they don’t they pop that message in the middle of your screen every 4 hours, with no option to turn it off.
Why dont you just turn the update pop-ups off.?

If that would fix the situation, that would be cool. Hopefully dark_skeleton will let us know if that works. All I know is that when I was in the same situation, Avast tech support advised me that I would get pop ups every 4 hours until I renewed.
Update panel could be disabled into avast! update settings.
The renew of a registered copy (free/paid) is a security measure. The user must react at it. If you’re using free avast!, renew freely the registration and that’s all.
