Hi, guys:
I recently formated my PC and installed the avast home version 4.7-1001. When I try to run avast I got this message <“avast! Splash Screen” cannot load configuration> and then <“avast! Simple User Interface” cannot load configuration>.
I’ve tried the steps you mention on topic “Is 4.7-1001 beta? Not working…” but the message and the red circle in tray still appears.
Is there any good solution? I’m working with windows XP.
I suggest you do a clean reinstall. Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD. Now uninstall, reboot, run the uninstall utility, reboot install the latest version, reboot.
In which path are you trying to install avast? On the default one?
DavidR, I did all you mention, but nothig change. The red circle and the “splash screen” message still appears.
