I have Avast home edition running, & i also have Spybot Search & Destroy installed with Real time protection running…
Now i know having Spybot Search & Destroy installed is not a problem, but i want to check if having the real time protection running would conflict avast in any way… is this ok or would i be better leaving Spybot as a simple scanner on demand. ?
I don’t mind if it slows anything down as long a it’s beneficial, if it’s more beneficial (protection wise) to have the Spybot Real time protection running & at the same time & it doesn’t in anyway conflict the Avast Real time protection then that’s how I’ll leave it.
The only problem might be the tea-timer disabling the ashDisp.exe, the avast tray icon which is a user start-up item. Other than that there shouldn’t be any issues.
However, it really isn’t keeping pace with malware developments and I think updates are weekly which isn’t great and there are better anti-spy/malware tools out there, also free.
Yer I’ve got SuperAntiSpyware the free edition installed, which i can use for scanning on demand, the free version doesn’t have a real time scanner though. (unless I’m mistaken)
No, only the Pro version has real-time scanning (as in my signature), the same is true for MBAM only the paid version has resident protection. For the most part, since avast incorporates anti-spyware into the program, you could get away without another resident anti-spyware.
Though if you were to consider the paid options (one off payment, not annual renewal) only one resident anti-spyware is advisable to avoid possible conflict.
