I tend to keep a strict eye on what websites people use in my family and give them strict warnings when they waver to unknown or suspicious sites, I myself am very cautious and will go out of my way to avoid dangerous websites and downloading files which I dont really need. I think Avast has served me well so far and I make sure its updated and that my firewall is configured to the best standard it can be
