Can someone explain why Avast Free Anti-Virus version 2015.10.0.2208 takes so long (between 4 1/2 and 5 minutes) before the Avast Globe in the tray rotates and I see the message “You are protected”? I’m running Vista Premium with a processor speed of 3.4GHz. Everything except Avast is ready to go in under 1.5 minutes. So what is Avast doing for all that time? Thanks.
Ayn chance is Settings>TroubleShooting you have the check box marked to have Avast load after other services ?
Also, I find when Avast is getting the VPS (database) updates on login/startup the Orange Globe in icon tray does not appear until that is complete…depending on how much is being sent this can be a little while.
what other security programs are installed?
what antivirus did you use before installing avast?
was it removed according to vendors instructions and using removal tool?
Do you have NG installed? This might have some effect.
Thanks for the responses…
Other security programs running are Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium 2.0.4.1028, Windows Defender and Windows Firewall.
I’ve had Avast so long I forgot what I had before. Probably it was McAfee or Norton but they are both long gone. I downloaded and ran the specialized software to remove every last trace of those dogs.
Para-Noid asked if I have NG installed? Could you please elaborate on what NG is? I’m not familiar with that abbreviation. Thanks.
