Avast Statistics not Showing?

Hi Everyone

I’m running the latest version 5.0.396 on a Vista Home 32 pc and my statistics screen says: Unable to show statistics. Access is denied. I could have sworn this worked before. Not sure if UAC is messing with this since I had just turned it on recently. Any ideas? Great program otherwise.

thanks
Ice

Guessing a little here, but it sounds like that UAC might be blocking it if you have only just turned it on.

You might have to allow avast to run as an administrator, or you might need to re-install Avast with UAC turned on, so that UAC lets Avast install with the correct permissions.

I’m running Avast free on both Vista-32HP and Win7-64HP, and the stats are working on both.

regards, Gizbar.

Make sure you have the adobe flash player also

thank you for the replies. I will try tonight.

System requirements for Avast 5:
Processor Pentium 3, 128 MB RAM, 100 MB of free hard disk space
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64 bit)
Source.

There’s no Flash Player in the list meaning that Flash Player isn’t the problem.

Flash for Internet Explorer is required for Avast 5 to display the graphs. http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

If you don’t want to see the graphs, then Avast 5 will still work fine without Flash installed and provide the same protections.

That means Internet Explorer is also a requirement to Avast to “work” 100%?

Not exactly. Internet Explorer is a part of Windows. If you can run Windows 2000 or above without Internet Explorer at least in the background, share how with the rest of us. Windows 7 is supposed to have the capability to remove Internet Explorer, but some say it is still present, just hidden.
