Avast stick on "Scanning for malware...0%"

I have been using Avast free for a while. I regularly update and run scans. Currently on 19.5.2378. When I run a scan I used to see one large circle showing progress and the when the circle was complete it showed results…I’ve always been clean of viruses. When I scanned this latest time I see 2 very small circles each of them showing progress of scanning. Eventually the left circle “Viruses & malware” completes first with a check mark in a green circle. The “Advanced issues” circle looks like completes with a red circle and an exclamation point. Below that I see the words “Scanning for malware…0%”. Below that I see a vert long computer path “c:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v4.0.303…fbcce0c8b8a12f72a3b844\System.Data.ni.dll.” Below that I see a button “Stop Scan”. The screen stays this way for HOURS. The only way I get out of that is to click the X to close the window. When I reopen is now has a button saying show results and when I click on that I see 4 advance issues which I “skip for now”. Why does it act this way and what can I do to have it finish normally?

Is it the same after a repair and reboot ?

Repair https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Repair-Antivirus

Repair Avast:
Open the Avast User Interface > Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Repair App. > Restart the Computer or,
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
