Avast! Free, Pro, AIS, Premier?

Now that a breakpoint error has been confirmed in AvastUI.exe, does rebooting fix the error? Or, is it currently running properly?

If you have a screenshot of the error box, please attach in next reply.

Were you running the Statistics window behind your browser when this happened?

hello mchain,

im using avast internet security…
and rebooting still not make any changes…
the only thing i can see running is avast firewall and avast antivirus services on windows task manager.
but when i click on ‘go to process’
it show nothing on process tab…

this is the attachment of error box…

and i am very sorry becaused i dont know what is windows statistic eventhrough i googled it meaning…

The statistics window is not important for now. Getting avast! to run properly is.

AIS version is? 8.0.1497 or 9.0.2007 or 9.0.2008?

OK, your error box references a different error than the one I’ve seen.

Try a repair of avast! by going to Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Uninstall a Program>Uninstall or change a program.

Select avast!>Select the option to Repair avast! Allow the repair to complete.

Reboot. If necessary, reboot again.

Better now? BTW, without full avast! protection in place, hopefully you’re using a secondary system to post here.

okey I already tried to repair but nothing happen…
same on rebooting method…
then I choose unistall and nothing happen also…
so what should I do…??

Sorry that did not work.

It’s time to check your system memory for possible defects or damaged sticks. You can get your testing program from here: http://www.memtest.org/

Wiki explaining what it does here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86

All hardware work must be done with system powered down and power removed.

Let the program run overnight and check it in the morning. You will know if memory errors are found. Could be as simple as a memory stick not seated properly, so test with program running with only one stick in to find your culprit. Replace that stick with another and run program as many times as needed to find the stick that is damaged. So, if you have four sticks, this test will need to be run four times. Running with only one stick installed will produce shorter runs of the program and will also produce errors reported much faster with a definite confirmation that that stick is bad.

Replace that bad stick with the exact same mfg and specifications as the originals.

Report back if errors are found or not.

Static electricity hazards to computer systems here: http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Computer_Science/2002/static.asp

If all memory sticks pass muster, then try a clean install of avast! if you know how to do that.

hi mchain…
I already run the memtest as you suggest…
and no error is found…
duh the last thing I want to do is unistall avast complately…
but nothing is worked…
after I reinstall back i will inform if the error remains or not…
anyway thanks on your hardship to resolve my problem…
