What I want to know…How to get avast working again! Did all the upgrade and/or repair. Avast will not turn on. Message is “File System Shield provider not found”

I rebooted for the 3x; 3x is the charm. After reading other posts that showed problems after System restore, was searching for possible fixes…others had similar problems, but final reboot worked. I don’t know why. Two last questions, 1)do I need to refile on the license? 2)is this an issue with avast after using system restore, and if so how can it be avoided?

Also having weird things happening with Avast. Same error messages as reported in this thread and have resorted to uninstalling and trying to re-install but now not letting me do this either!!! Help!! I have no protection on my PC and I’m very worried!!!

Internet security, OS is Windows and not sure which version. Have had it since Sept 11 if that helps!

Vista and v5.0 (Pro Antivirus or Internet Security)

Seems to be installing again via Mozilla browser rather than Chrome if that helps? Last time I tried, using Chrome, it installed and immediately uninstalled itself…Am just at the restart stage now and will report back!

  1. As you’re on Vista, be sure you have SP2 installed.
  2. avast! 5 is outdated, please update to version 6…!!

Hey I have the same problem as momofonly4 and I cannnot get avast to work.It’s version 6.0.1367.Ya so I click repair and it says file system shield provider not found.Help please!
