Avast stopped working

I recently updated graphic card drivers and now when i right click the avast icon none of the top four in the menu work also the stop on access protection does not work. I have gone back to the drivers i was using i have re-installed avast but still nothing works. I am using windows xp home sp2

What is exactly happening? Can you access all options but not the residents settings (the first line), start avast, open log viewer and change program settings and even stop providers?
Well, avast is very bad installed :cry:

Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?
Can you try to repair your installation? Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

When you right click the icon and highlight the start avast, open log viewer and change program settings options and click nothing happens, the update options work also the pause or stop providers work if you do each one individually but the option to stop on access protection does not. I have gone into the program folder and double clicked each .exe and nothing happens not even the egg timer.

Avast is the only antivirus i use.
Tried the repair and it is just the same.
uninstalled and reinstalled and no change.

Did notice that after i uninstalled that windows security center reported that avast virus protection was still on even though i hadn’t reinstalled.

Even in the past? Haven’t you use another antivirus?

Did you install avast in more than one folder? How did you uninstall avast?

I have used avg before but that was years ago

Tech, You can see it in the logbooks of ME Computer! A week a go saw i 2errors
in AVAST,1 not good running and 2 a error in the chest. I going to www.avast .com
and i did found the technical support email adress.
I send 1 mail and 2hours later get i a mail back whit the solution. And in 5 minutes
whas it Fixxed. And then i say THATS SUPPORT. No other big av marks do it better.
But i told the technical men,The Logbook say,and whit details.And so quickly,
repairing me comp is terriffic. You find it olso O.K.?
