AVAST stops Finder copying from folder to folder

When I try to copy large folders from one drive to another, I encounter a major problem.

If at any point, AVAST spots a potential virus in one of the thousands of files it is writing, it moves the file to the Virus Chest. At this point, my Mac stops the whole copying process.

Of course, it’s very handy that the virus has been identified, logged, and taken out of harm’s way.

But, if I’m copying a folder with 250 GB of files, the MAc has already spent an hour preparing to copy. Then, when the copy is blocked, I am left with a half copied folder, and have to go through it file by file to work out where to start the copy all over again.

Is there any way I could set AVAST to identify the bad file, and then move it to Virus Chest (or delete it) later — when my Mac has finished copying?

I’ve checked preferences, and I can either use Virus Chest or NOT (in which case, of course, dodgy files are copied across to everyone’s detriment).

Duh!

Why didn’t I think of that?

The external drive I’m backing up is very slow, so it might take a day or more - but at least, then, I can copy in peace.
