Avast stuck on scanning "SVC" files

Whenever I run a full scan, avast gets stuck on the file. Should I just exclude the driver or is it malware?

What should I do?

I tried another full scan and now it’s stuck on … “SVC:WSearchIdxPi > ???”

or is it malware?
to test for malware.....upload file(s) to www.virustotal.com and test with 40+ malware scanners

alternative: jotti.org / metascan-online.com

I enabled showed hidden files and show windows files (hide protected windows file) but I was unable to find the files on my PC that avast was scanning. This is beginning to frustrate me now since I’m beginning to have lots of problems since the latest update.

This is exactly my problem too. The scan never gets past the SVC bit. On quick or full scan.

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? Or did it correct itself after a maybe a new program update happened?

Try going into Settings under Full Scan and click on Performance and untick Scan files in the order they appear. Try it then. Also, I find that it ran much better if I did my external hard drives separately. This also applies to Quick Scan if you’re having problems with that too.

Avast are aware of this problem on some systems and are trying to gather data to resolve the problem
