Avast suddenly quarantines a Canon Printer "DLL"

Hi,

Avast has recently started detecting a “DLL” belonging to my Canon Pixma IP3300 printer, as Malware. Every time I try to print something the alarm sounds.

Avast is falsely detecting “Win32 : Evo-gen [Susp]” in the file “CNMFU84.DLL”

I have reported this to Avast four days ago but still it is being detected.

The VT link is here:

You can upload files and report issues to avast lab here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php (change subject according to Your case)

you can use mail

send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject: False Positive / undetected sample (select subject according to your case)
zip password: infected

or you can send files from avast chest
how to use the chest. http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB21

Thanks Pondus,

I have sent it twice via the Chest and have now sent it via Contact form you provided.
I hope it’s sorted out soon.
Thanks anyway.

OK.
After this morning update it seems fixed.
I scanned the file in the “chest” and now it shows no virus.
Thank you

you can now right click the file in chest and select restore … a copy will remain in chest, this you can delete when all is OK
