Doing a fresh install of Avast Internet Security on Win 7 64bit, when system reboots it gets to login screen then gives a blue screen with ndis.sys as the faulting driver and the 0x000000D1 error code.
I booted into safe mode, where I disabled all avast ndis devices in Device Manager - no change
I’d recommend using McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool to make sure all the remnants of that product are removed from your system. You should always use the removal tool designed to remove a specific anti-virus, even if you didn’t get any errors using the Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel.
Please check the C:\Windows\Minidump folder - do you have any recent minidump files there? (corresponding to the bluescreens)
If yes, please upload them to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming
Hi DocStone, I would suggest you go to the complete list of uninstaller’s site and download the removal tool for Mcafee as this av is notorious for leaving bit’s all through systems and use the avast removal tool to clean up anything avast may have left then do a fresh install of avast 5.0.677. (Edit) sorry Atani and igor didn’t notice your post’s.
OK, same issue after MCPR, uninstalled and ran Avast 5 Removal tool, system blue screened with the same error upon reboot into normal mode.
The only way I can get the system to boot is either in safemode or with a system restore. Booting into Safemode with Networking also gives the same blue screen.
