I just got off the phone with an Avast Support Tech. Because of his thick accent and my hearing not being what it used to be, this did not go smoothly. I asked for assistance with confirming I had all the available programs on my various devices that came with the ULTIMATE VIP BUNDLE. I bought the bundle with the hopes that I would be “one and done” and my devices would be protected from the evil that lurks out there on the ethernet. I explained my reason for calling to support tech, Shanon(?). He acted as if he understood. He confirmed I had the VIP package until 2025. He then immediately went with the upsell to extend my subscription to 2028 and he would throw in some other program for free. I told him I did not call for an upsell and could we please stay on my reason for calling. He said, “I have already explained what you have.”, then proceeded to go back to his pitch. I stopped him again and told him, I know what I have, but are all the programs available on all my devices? I keep getting pop-ups for other programs that I thought were in my bundle. He went back to his, "I have already explained to you " statement. I realized we were in a death spiral and told him I was hanging up. WTF! If I can’t get proper support I will be looking elsewhere for my online security.

Calling a help desk employee does not seem to be a good idea to me, especially if you are hard of hearing. Help desk employees are usually underpaid, therefore often unmotivated to help customers.
