Avast Taking Ages To Load....

I have free version 8.0.1483. I have over the past few days found that the start-up time for my computer (running XP professional) had increased all of a sudden from about 2.5 minutes to over 5 minutes. In taking a look (using the Soluto program) I have discovered that Avast is now taking 159 seconds to load!

Can anyone explain why this would be? And is there a way of shortening the loading time?
