Avast Team: When a new version of Avast 2015! will be available.

Hello everybody,

It is well known by reading the posts that Avast. 2015 slows sharply web browsing. In addition the site av-test.org seems to confirm these different posts. >:(

Computer’s performance is significantly reduced to the point that even with a paid licence ( available end 2016) I uninstalled avast! and put a competitor instead.

My question is simple : when will the team has planned a Avast SP2 for Avats! 2015 to sustainably and efficiently solve this performance problem. ;D

Avira tested for 2015 in terms of performance difference is obvious. :stuck_out_tongue:

good luck

Brgds

And when are you going to fix the problem with HTTPS?

I’m not noticing anything bad with Avast Free 2015

I would check your browser. It’s probably an Add-on.

I would recommend trying a clean install of Firefox, with just these Extensions:

Adblock Plus
Avast Online Security
Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel

NoScript can be good and bad, it seems like it depends on the web page.

Please see screenshot for some others that I think are good.

hello,

Thank you for your response.

Clearly, the PC freezes with Avast! 2015 .

Firefox Chrome are no add-on .

With version 2013 & 2014 Avast I had no such problems and very frequently now I must use CTRL-ALT -SUP to go kill the process, avast is clearly the cause of slowdowns.

Regarding Internet browsing there is a strong slowdown.

I think an update is needed from Avast Team.

Best Regards.

I’m having similar problems. Ever since the 2015 version has been installed, my PC is hesitating, browser is freezing for seconds at a time and Task Manager frequently shows Avast processes taking up to 50% of the CPU. This is unacceptable. You can’t blame this on browser add ons. Before 2015, everything worked fine. Mine is so bad I want to downgrade to the last version. How is the easiest way to do that? I’ll wait until a better version comes out before upgrading again.

Not knowing what your OS is I will venture a guess and ask what happens when you disable HTTPS scanning?

GUI>Settings>Active Protection>Web Shield>click on “customize”>untick “enable HTTPS scanning”

I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium. It’s not just the browser that freezes up. It will make any application freeze for seconds at a time. Even solitaire freezes. Here’s my CPU usage.

ooops.

I solved this problem by noting that the AvastSVC CPU consumption dropped from 50 - 60% to very low values when I disabled the Firewall in the Active Protection menu. Not the optimal way, granted, but lacking a better solution…
