Just got done with avast online tech support, and was not happy. Support personnel went through my computer pointing out all this stuff that was screwed up, but fixed nothing, just pushed for a $170 support option.
My Avast is still down, my system is still wide open, and now I’ve been told everything is going to die if I don’t spend the money…
The least they could have done was delete some of the files they said were bad, or anything that would have made me think I might get some thing for my money.
Right now, their services are last on my list, just because of the sales pitch.
Has any one else out there gone through this??
There are several such instances in the forums and quite frankly this 3rd party support practice by some so called support staff is reprehensible and can’t be justified. I would always recommend using the forums, where it will cost you nothing.
Third-party Support Manager, Vojta (nekvapil (at) avast (dot) com) has requested info about 3rd party support issues, so if you have time to recount your experience (copy and paste your post give the link to this topic, etc.), and see the post below.

Can you give a little more detailed information about the problem ?
e.g. what avast program do you have installed; is this the first time installing avast, have or did you have another antivirus installed on this system, and error messages reported, etc.
Krash, you’re more than welcome to get help of forum users like us.
Please, report the incident like David said.
