Avast turned into a Windows killer - Report

Hi folks,

I have my current PC, my fiancees laptop and PC as well as my mums PC running Avast and Comodo and has been for a very long time. Since last night every single one of them will no longer boot up and instead goes into a windows repair mode, and eventually says it cannot be repaired. I launched into safe mode ticked selective startup so it only loads services, rebooted and no luck just restarts again and goes into a loop. However having just fixed 2 of them so far I noticed that as soon as Avast was uninstalled the systems boot into windows absolutely fine. I also ran Malware Antibytes but that came up clean, I did last night notice a firewall alert for the following and not sure if this had anything to do with it:

C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\Setup\2dc10cdb-b87a-4327-8a36-0358ccb8a9f9.exe

That specific file has since disappeared. But for it to happen across all four windows stations is certainly a strange occurance. Just thought I would bring this to your attention.

Jack

Already reported, looks like a bad update http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=128242.0

Ah if thats the case then it should be made as a sticky so that people getting this problem that can use tablets etc like I did, can read forums and see what the problem is.

Well it’s only recently been reported here so where yet to hear any response from avast about it.

I think you will find that is the Avast emergency update trying to get some data, but I could be wrong
