I recently bought a couple of thumb drives that have Avast on them.
I assume that Avast is on there to protect the thumb drive. Also that it is a subscription item. Is this true?
There is a post on Castle Cops regarding infection through a thumb drive, and I gave him the information as to my thumb drive.
Is there anything special to know about the U3 Avast regarding updates or whatever?
Sorry I don’t have any practical experience of the U3 version, I’m just an avast user, but this is the U3 page if you haven’t already found that, http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-u3.html. There is also a .pdf data sheet link on that page with a little more info than that on the web page
I downloaded and installed the program on a U3 thumb drive. It appears to be a really good application to prevent infection from the host machine. It also has an option to scan the host machine when inserted.
I don’t use thumb drives much, but if one does I would recommend this program.
As you say you don’t use on every often but the data that is likely to be on it is important to you and when you stick it into an unknown host it is probably best to wear protection ;D
