any help would be great. i have already made sure windows firewall exceptions are correct and re- installed avast :-\

not an answer for you but probably more for the team: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/185294

could you add the following here:
which processor do you use
which OS do you use and is it x32 or x64
which version of avast

core 2 duo 2.13 GHZ
windows xp SP3
avast business protection pluss Version 6.0.1226

the computers having this error all have up to date .net and wundows updates anu clues out there still dealing with this

doing a complete uninstall of the avast program from all machines and starting over

as far as im concerned avast dropped the ball on the paid business support.

Within the last week two Dell laptops in our organisation have started displaying that same error (both are a similar spec to the above ie WinXP Core 2, 1.8GHz, etc).

Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

Not idea to solve this application error, but I have the same trouble:

Win XP SP3 with Avast Bussiness Plus 6.0.1253
All Windows Udates are applied.

Thanks!

Thanks for the system info.

Does the event viewer on the machine contain any related errors? - (Start > Run… > eventvwr)
You should be able to locate the error using the time, when the error jumped out.

Are the ABP/ABPP machines managed by a console or are the machines installed in a “stan-alone” enviroment?

In one of our customer with this problem (“stand-alone”) the solution was re-install ABP using:

For ABP:
http://www.avast-antivirus.es/files/setup_av_bp.exe (MS Windows XP/Vista/7)
http://www.avast-antivirus.es/files/setup_av_srv_bp.exe (MS Windows Server 2003/2008)

For ABPP
http://www.avast-antivirus.es/files/setup_av_bpp.exe (MS Windows XP/Vista/7)
http://www.avast-antivirus.es/files/setup_av_srv_bpp.exe (MS Windows Server 2003/2008)

Could you please try one more thing?

In the avast program data log folder (usually C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\log), there could be some “.mdmp” files. If they are, please let me know and I’ll provide you with a way how to share the file(s) with us. That would help our developers a lot.

Thanks

We have received this message from AVAST Software:

“Using your files, we have located the problem and our developers are already working on a fix.”

My Church has a computer that keeps getting this same error, so when any new information comes out, please post it!

I checked system logs and app error reports and found that the beginning of the problems for us coincided with the instalation of a windows update 2 weeks ago- almost to the minute. Our computers are set to update at 3am, and at 3:26am on the Sept. 7th, this error hit for the first time. It re-occurred several times that day, then was dormant until a week later, at the same time, when another update was applied, and from that point on it has been an increasingly annoying issue. The Windows updates that were applied (and no others were applied at these times,) had to do with trusted certificates.

I have the same problem with two pc’s at the office using Avast Business, is there anything i can do? This issue is gonna cost me my job! HEEEELP!!!

I am sorry to hear, that the issue is costing you so much trouble. It has been already fixed and the fix is going to be present in the next avast business client program update.

When?

We are waiting this update for a long time, and customers are loosing the faith. :-\

I found a temporary fix. I went in and deleted the Windows updates from week of the 7th and the week of the 14th on the affected computers. This solved the problem for me, but it only a temporary fix until the new Avast! update comes out.

Yes edj.

Customers like me, loose the faith.

With the long time to update v4.8 and the long time to solve errors, we won’t renew the license of Avast.

Hello im from Holland,

I was always a big fan of Avast! and always promoting this product. Now this company always used the business protection of Symantec but has switched to Avast! Business protection. 1 server and 7 workstations. But now all the computers give avastnet.exe error. The company is calling us to fixit, but i don’t know where to search for the solution!! This is horrible because the client is now thinking why the have listened to US.

Avast!!! Pleaseeeeee come with an update ASAP!!!

I’ve temporarily fixed it by going to Start > Run > services.msc search for the avast! Net Client Service and stop the service and disable from starting.

What is this part of the program doing anyway???

Is it okay to leave it disabled???

greetings

No, avast! Net Client Service it need to communicate with the BP console (to gets updates and policy) but you can leave temporally disabled if you solve the problem.
What version are you running on this client, is the 6.0.1253?
Maybe is not the cause, but you have completely removed the previus antivirus with the uninstall tool? Have you install on this client other security programs?

The update 1.1 of avast! Business Protection is planned for tomorrow.
