Avast UI Screen Coming Up On Boot Up

This just started last night. When the computer is booted up, all is well and then
the Avast User Interface is Open … it never did that before and I do not see an
Option to disable it. Seems like maybe something in yesterdays av defs updates
may have caused it.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

@bruce_b
Got the same problems once yesterday, but since I’ve updated the Virusdefinitions the problem is gone.

So it seems that you don’t have to “repair” the program, just update the Virusdefinitions.

@Asyn
Asyn, I left the german part of the board, because you’ve put on a “ONE-MAN-SHOW” there.
If there is a problem you always give the same answers - Repair AVAST or deinstall it and than install it again.
If this doesn’t help you post a link to the (english) Help-Pages of AVAST.
It seems that you doesn’t have much more knowledge of the AVAST Software than that, so please go back to the german part of the board and post your “Help” there, because here in the english part of the board are a lot more people who have more insight in the AVAST Software than you have.

Yes, I agree as my laptop opened up properly this morning. So it must have been something
in the Virus Defs that caused it – especially since I am not the only one that saw the glitch.

To start with, this is all OT here, but I’ll answer you anyway.

  1. Nope, you left because you received several warnings and after that you were just trolling.
  2. Well, we’ve to start the troubleshooting somewhere. Repair/Clean reinstall are often the first steps.
  3. Please note, that it’s not my fault that many German FAQ aren’t translated yet…
  4. Anyone is free to correct me, if needed. That’s all.

I’m using the beta version and have reported this problem before.
It happened again this morning when I started my the 64 bit system.

I am not on the Beta but on the latest stable release (2262) … so it has nothing to do with the beta release, as the problem cleared itself after this morning definitions updates. Not sure what they did or how it got in there, but some coder messed up.

I don’t believe this is entirely 64bit OS related, I got it this morning when I booted my XP Pro 32bit system. Generally I don’t get too excited the first time it happens, when it is a regular occurrence (every boot) then I get more vocal.

It has been on both beta & stable version. :stuck_out_tongue:

It happened to me once yesterday after Windows Updates.
Everything is fine today.
