Hi Guys,
I’m not a first time Avast user (had used it previously on my old comp). Got McAfee with the new one, got sick of it and here I am again - back to trusted Avast (version 5.0.677). Anyways, the problem is this:
I connect to Avast using my college’s wifi thru a Squid Proxy (2.6.Stable21) using a password. So, in my Avast settings, I did the following
- Opened Avast Settings
- Went to Updates
- Went to Proxy Settings
- Selected “Specify proxy server”
- Type: HTTP; Address: 172.16.50.50; Port: 3128
- Authentication Type: Plaintext; user: ********; password: *********
- Ok
Then, I tried to activate Avast. No cigar. ![]()
Changed the authentication to NTLM. Still no cigar. I don’t know what am I doing wrong. My firefox continues to work fine - but avast cannot connect! Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Egress
