I tried sending my first post yesterday but it didn’t seem to arrive. Here it is again
After running a full scan on Avast I get a long list of more than a hundred files supposedly password protected (not by me). Avast cannot deal with them therefore.
Suffixes include
CloseProgram.png ButtonFinished.png DownloadBarEmpty.png
HeaderError.gif language-fi.js language-fr.js
My system is:- Medion tower PC with Windows 8 s/w. It includes Zone Alarm & Spybot s/w. Please advise.

files that can not be scanned are just that, it does not mean they are infected
avast is just giving you a scan error report and the reason why
avast is a antivirus program and the only files of interest to avast are infected files so it it will not take any actions on none infected files
files that can not be scanned is the most frequent asked question in this forum so there is a ton of info if you serch the forum
It includes Zone Alarm & Spybot s/w. Please advise.some advice on SpyBot.....it is waste of disk space, use malwarebytes

In testing, it proved almost 100 percent ineffective.

most 88year olds dont know how to turn on a computer, so you are doing just fine. 
Thank you for your interest in this problem. Avast gave the hint of a corrupt download file that had been interrupted, Removing the file cured the fault. Thank you again.
