Hi, I am using avast v9 with virus definition update 14070700 on a MacBook Air running 10.9.3.
My avast has been working fine for the past several weeks, turning up maybe 3-4 “unable to scan” files during a full system scan. However, when I ran it this week, it turned up way more unscanned files (as of now, 840,620 files) vs scanned files (168,241 files). Also, under the “last scanned file” field it turned up “???” so I can’t even figure out what files aren’t being scanned.
The scan is also taking abnormally long, it’s been 9h now and it’s still not done yet. Can anyone help please?
Infections are still listed as 0.
We need some more info, otherwise we can’t do anything about it. The minimum is the system log, or at least all messages from “com.avast.daemon” there. The second thing are some samples of the files that can not be scanned. You can obtain them best by running the following command:
scan -e /Volumes / 2>error.log
This will start a “full system scan” and store all scan errors to a file named “error.log” in the current directory. If you get several thousands of errors, then only a part of the file is sufficient (e.g. the first 100 lines) and you can break the scan after a while.
